What's it?
The Study Visa is a visa intended for students who have been accepted into a higher education institution or an advanced professional training course in Portugal.
There are two types:
- Temporary Visa: For courses lasting more than 3 months but less than 1 year.
- Residence Visa: For courses lasting more than 12 months.
This visa allows students to apply for a residence permit, enabling them to legally reside in Portugal for the duration of their studies.
Who is it for?
This visa is designed for individuals who wish to pursue higher education or specialized training in Portugal, including postgraduate, master's, or doctoral programs. The Study Visa is intended for non-European Union nationals who plans to study in Portugal.
Key Requirements
The primary requirement is an official acceptance letter from a recognized Portuguese university or institution. However, additional criteria must be met, including:
- Valid health insurance covering your period of residence in Portugal;
- Proof of accommodation in Portugal;
- Clean criminal record certificate from your country of origin or residence.
